I recently bought a 1650 Xpress with a 35 mudbuddy and the motor is a little heavy for the boat. I would like to give it a little more flotation for the motor. Has anyone run flotation pods with a surface drive motor? Do they work well?

We have them on one of our boats. They work fine. Just have someone build them for your application. Don't buy the prefab ones.

You say the motor is too heavy. What exactly is it doing? Backwash or just dragging? The size we put on ours added about 200 lbs of lift to the back of the boat.

I have a 1652 lowe with a 35mb and the weight is not to heavy do you have you gas moved up front that might help. Why do you think it's to heavy.

It just rides lower than I would like in the back. But I will move the gas up front, and also I can move my battery up front and see if that levels me out more

Moving your load around would be a good first step. Good luck

I run a 16 48 war eagle w/ a 35 mb. I was going to put pods on it, but I moved the gas tank and battery in front of the middle bench and it ran awesome. The back wash problem is gone, it pops up quicker, and the rear sits higher, amazing what that did. With an excell I am sure your tank is up front and there is a box for the battery, so what worked for me might not help you. my .02
