 23hp sd vs. 27hp sd Wondering if anyone had a 23hp GoDevil sd, and if so what is your take on it? Reason being, im getting a 16x48 sd boat built and using my longtail for the time being, just need some insight and what to look for. Thanks

Re: 23hp sd vs. 27hp sd The 23 meets the under 25 hp rule for Federal Properties....
Other than that the 25 or 27 Kohler is a better motor in terms
of torque and powerband... The 23 is a bit weaker on the
bottom end of the rpm band than the Kohler - I think the
25 and 27 are about the same except for the carb....
In the GDSD the 23 has a shorter outdrive than the 27 with
a lower gear ratio to make up for the lack of torque - so that
they both can use the 3 blade - 1.4 to 1 on the 35 - 1.5 to 1
on the 27 - 1.7 to 1 on the 23 GDSDs.....
On the right hull the 23 GDSD is a great motor - Sam III here has
the 23 GDSD & 18x36 GD Skiff and can outperform many larger hulls
in the slop with the bigger 35 GDSD - no chit - seen it happen just
2 weeks ago at "our run" -LOL- !!!
I have a GDSD 16x48 myself and have run the 23LT - 27 GDSD - and
now the 35 GDSD.... The 23LT would get me thru the toughest
places --- but I like the 35 GDSD the best --- 30 plus mph and easy
to drive....

Re: 23hp sd vs. 27hp sd Dude get the 27HP…I have a 16X60 GD and The 27HP SD and it’s a TURD with 3 people…wish I had a bigger motor…Bigger is always better….

I updated to a 23 GDSD because I didn't think the boat could handle the 35GDSD. Do you think otherwise??
