Need some advise on the maintance part of the motor. First time owning a Pro Drive. I am going to change the motor oil and check the lower unit to see if it needs to be changed or oil added. The motor has 15hrs on it. I am probably going to bring up the RPM'S to 4300. It is right around 4100. It has a manual trim and manual reverse. What type of engine oil should I use? I know there is many experienced Pro Drive owners out here!!!! I recently bought the complete package with the 18x54 X2 boat. It runs really good :) . the only thing that is weird to me is that there is no quick disconnect to the fuel tank, which I am going to change. Anyone ever put a water fuel seperator to help with the motor and fuel stabalizer. Please let me know if I missed anything to do with the motor? What speeds should I be getting with this package? The boat has full flotation, and when I drove it I was getting around 23mph but I was thinking because It was very windy, choppy and deep? Than again it was my first time ever driving one so I am not experienced at all :roll: !!!! Thanks in advance with all the info.

Ok,
engine oil... I would always use the most expensive Racing oil. 7-9 $'s each

I sold my rig a few months ago, and I can't recall te brand that I was buying. Give it a couple days, an you will have your answers.

Fuel Seperator. - YES
12v low pressure additional fuel pump also will be needed at some point.

It is not the Marine Edition. The motor was built may 2009. Is 10W 30 good or should I go with synthetic. I am not understanding the fuel pump thing. Are you saying that I going to have the change out th fuel pump? I guess is no big deal. I bought one for my last motor at a lawnmower shop. Thanks again.

I was getting speeds of a little over 25 with my Pro Drive today and it doesn't have but 42 minutes on the motor. I have an 1860 Excel. I have the Marine Edition.

Don't change ya fuel pump, and one...

Synthetic Oil. Most expensive one. Can't go wrong.

Congrats. Briggs says 5w30. I use Mobile-1 5w30. Unless you having fuel issues why a new fuel pump?

O.K thanks for the help, I just thought It was recommended to run the fuel out of the motor and It looked like just a headache to disconnect the fitting everytime. I am thinking it came from the factory like that right? Because the person I bought it from went directly to Pro Drive. So are you saying that you really don't need the run the fuel out of the motor everytime you use it?

No you don't need to do that. Just run seafoam in your gas. This will help eliminate water and preserve the gas. The fuel separator will help also.

Canvasbackdrake---you are overthinking this!! This is a glorified lawn mower engine.
No quick connectors--do you see them on lawn mowers? NO
Do not run the fuel out after every trip--do you do this with lawn mower? NO--may use some Stabil or SeaFoam if you are not gonna use it for a while.
Any quality motor oil will work. If you live in the South go with 10w-30, in the North 5w-30. When you hit 50 hours and get it good and broken in you can go synthetic--I run Mobile1 synthetic but Royal Purple and some others are good too.
Check the lower unit oil by loosening top allen head plug and checking the level. If it runs out a little you are good. Check again at 25 hrs or if you notice problems like a leak.
No need for an additional fuel pump. Don't try to fix something that isn't broken. If you have fuel delivery problems in the future then a fuel pump might be in order. Not now though!
Speeds might be a little low but that is a good sized rig you're running and there definitely is a learning curve when it comes to running these motors. Pay attention to trim and rpm's and try to find a sweet spot. Good Luck!
