I have owned a longtail all of my mudmotor life. I now own a Mud Buddy 35 Hyperdrive Louisanna Mud Special. It doesn't have reverse nor neutral, but it does have tilt. What is the best way to secure this baby for trailering? Pictures would be great! I used a ratchet strap and wrapped it around the handle on my longtail, and secusred it to either side of the trailer. This secured both boat and motor. I feel sure I could do the same with this motor, but I am all about new and improved ideas. So.... shoot me some. Thanks!!!! |

How old is the motor? I had a 06 35 hyper that had a lock built in for trailering... |

If I remember it was down on the side of the frame, pin type with a black knob on it. When the motor was trimed up or if you hit something and the motor kicked up it would lock in. I thank the newer motors had a pin that would pull out 1/4 turn and lock in the out position, so when you hit something the motor would fall back down instead of staying up... Heres a pic of it... I will see if I can get to the storage and get some pics. What I do is very simple. I got two ratchet straps (one on each side of the motor) and I hook them to the shaft (where the holes are) and to the handles on the back of my boat. I slowly thighten them up and then trim up all the way. There is no bounce even on the roughest roads. |

The LA special has a trailering bracket built into the frame. When trimmed all the way up, the motor mount plate fits into a groove in the transom bracket, locking it in and stopping it from going side to side. |

Thanks for all the help guys. And, by the way it's actually not the louisianna special. It's actually the "original" hyperdrive, but it is almost exactly like the louisianna special. Therefore, it doesn't have the trailering brackets. |

Call Mudbuddy they sell a trilering bracket for the hyper and its only around $30. |

they should have a lock system for trailering on the side of the trim |
