 Pods vs. Huntdeck
I need to ask you boys that are in the know. I am in the process of trying to get the back of my boat ride better. She will plain just fine with me, dog, and hunt gear(350 pounds) but when I throw another person in it really grunts to breakout. Thinking of throwing on a huntdeck to backend.
Pretty good at fabing parts just need advice. Btw, I will stick to setup I have because no need for anything bigger. It would just get me stuck where I don't want to be and I run alot of skinny water with hard bottoms.
It's on a 1436 with 18 mini lite.

 Re: Pods vs. Huntdeck
have you tried moving your tank and battery to the front yet? I know that one builder claims that the pod type aids in performance, but have never seen any hard justification on it. Im not a FE, but if I was doing that to that boat I would go with the hunt deck style. Might even try to put a reverse taper on the bottom of the pod for when you have to push it backwards. but, thats just my .02

 Re: Pods vs. Huntdeck
Pods can be grafted on to the back of the boat. Huntdeck, no. Huntdecks have in their skeleton the longitudinal bracing that runs to the bow of the boat. I would not want to mount a motor onto the back of a huntdeck unless I knew it had that kind of structural integrity. Pods do not have to bear the weight and torque of having a motor attached to them. By the way, I am a FE on this having owned two hunt deck boats.

 Re: Pods vs. Huntdeck
In your case I would go with the pods if they would work.

 Re: Pods vs. Huntdeck
Thanks guys. I have the hunt deck fabbed but won't take alot to turn into pods. I can have them on in nearly same amount of time. Just wondering if anyone has ever had any experience running with pods.

 Re: Pods vs. Huntdeck
I had a Beavertail boat, and the pods seem to help the draft at rest, although it is minimal and during the hole shot by not allowing the transom to squat as much as a normal hull under acceleration. On plane they are pretty much out of the water if properly installed and minimize bow rise.
