Re: Got my brand new GTR hung on today!
Its a 16' IPB. Theyve put mudbuddys on them before and had no problem. We went with the GTR 23 cause we figured the 35 was too heavy. We used to have a 23 hp GDLT and it was hitting 19 mph so this was pretty upsetting, any suggestions?

Re: Got my brand new GTR hung on today!
heres the site ... http://hunting.inshorepowerboats.com/It's a fiberglass skiff with a moderate entry with a slight v in the back and hard chines. The hull is 16 feet long by six foot beam. The GTR is a 23, but we got the 23 over the 35 for weight issues and the 23 longtail used to push us great, so we figured that the GTR should be faster. I was told by Hoyt, Kyle, and many others on here that this motor should work great on my boat and I am depressed to see it failing to do so. Do you think its possible that I did not fill it with enough oil? Maybe there is not enough fuel being delivered? The engine seemed to have the power but it felt like it wasn't getting to the water right, like the prop was just blowing out or slipping bad. Could the added weight of the GTR over the longtail have thrown the hp/weight ratio off enough to kill the speed? I just spent a shitload of money on this thing and I want it to work!!

Do you have the correct model engine for your specific transom height?

16" transom on my boat and I have the short transom model so that's right. I forgot about the three holes in the bottom and haven't adjusted it yet, it's in the middle right now, do y'all thinking changing it will help and if so, up or down?

Re: Got my brand new GTR hung on today!
How do you like reverse now ?
Sorry - just pokin fun a bit - the lower hole "I hear from GT owners" will put the prop down lower and help prevent the blowout you might be having...
Good luck...

Re: Got my brand new GTR hung on today!
Alright smartass I was referrin to the fact that different MM companies tell you to add more or less based on their tilt level. I'm new to MMs and I've never had a brand new one so I put oil till the dipstick looked right. Overfill could choke the motor and underfill will have obvious results but it didn't seem to be running hot? It seemed like a trim or tilt issue?

Aluminum poling platform, small cranking batt, motor and me, I had safety eq, trolling motor and deep cycle and passenger up front. I've read of some people having similar problems being solved by tabs?

The holes for the pin just changes the transom angle what is the angle of the boat..
