its only 3 horsepower...which is why PD discontinued the 32 not that much difference

However if you want a 30 hp Kohler all ya gotta do is buy the 27 and then order the 30 heads and your good to go

I am stepping up from a 23 so it would 7hp instead of 4hp. and the weight would be a fair bit less.

Post Re: kohler 30 vs 27
I talked to MB today and they said that the kohler 30 would bolt up to the mini. I am runnin a 15 /48 so the 35van is going to be on the big side of what i need .The 27 would probably be fine but the 30 would be right in the mid. I have herd that the 30 did well in some test runns but MB went with the 27 just to keep things simple , and i also herd that there was some problems with the motor and thats why they droped the idea.

Input please

Will

My 27 gdsd pushes 28 to 29mph on a light 17x42

EVT and others have mods for the 27 if ya need more power

Just get the frame and brand you like

That is very impressive. I've seen that motor on similar size rigs and have yet to see in break 25-26. Not saying it isn't true just very impressive. I would not get another hull for that motor if I was you, sounds like you have it on the perfect matching boat with that performance.

do you think the 30 kohler would be worth the extra 8 lbs and a few hundred bucks

Yep - very light Weldbilt square chine .90 gauge 17x42

Only turned about 25mph on GDSD hull which is 200lbs heavier

The 27 is a great motor on a smaller lighter hull

Will

just saying the 27 is the standard - you could always mod it later
into a 30 to 40 hp class if that is what you need

the 23 lacks the torque of that 27 in the low end

you might be happy as stock - can you get a test drive on your hull ?

Just do the 27.

The 30 is just different heads and intake/carb.

The 25/27/30 block can be modded quite extensively later to some unbelievable HP.

I talked with Mud Buddy today and they said that the only problem thay had out of the motor and the reason they went with the 27 kohler insted of the 30 kohler was a hesitation just as your gettin on it. I would think thats someting that could be ajusted out but surly they tried.
