Gator Tail blowing fuses while frogging
Last night we went to do a little frogging in my buddy's boat. Two times while we were out frogging, his motor blew the 25 amp fuse. The motor died and wouldn't restart. Changed the fuse, motor cranked right up. Is this a common problem when flipping the switch in and out of neutral? We were going into and out og gear ALOT. My buddies boat is idled really high, so we would bump it into and out of gear to keep the speed down.
Anyway, is this normal or is something wrong? If it isn't right, what should he be checking??
Thanks!

Sounds like a wire is frayed under the cover... check the wires under the trim and start / forward cover... perhaps is shorting out somewhere.

x2 you got a wire touchin metal or somethin, check the wire that plugs into the clutch, if its only blowin the fuse when you engage and disengage, that what it would be.

Re: Gator Tail blowing fuses while frogging
No thats not normal.
Thats got nothing to do with engaging and disengaging the clutch,it is a short somewhere. It may have seemed like it was the clutch if it was happening when engaging/disengaging it idling high and jerking the motor and moving the wire causing it to ground.Look for a worn spot or a bad connection.
Now while frogging if you loose the ability to trim up but you can still trim down or vice versa its a short on the trim wires under the cover.I've had this happen while frogging. Now to the things that matter, how were the frogs?

Frogs weren't really out. Ended up with 25. Were only out for about an hour or so. But it was still a blast.
