I just acquired a new used rig that used to have a 2012 hd5000 on it. The original motor blew and now has a stock block with a mikuni and q pipe on it. I have the old block from the 5000. The old block still ran but we noticed it was cracked and leaking oil.

My question is what exactly did the old block have for performance parts and 2 what can/should I harvest and use on the new stock block.

Also would that mikuni be jetted any different coming off a 5000?

Pretty sure they were stock shortblocks. The heads may be the best thing to save. Depending on what intake adapter u have it may be better to up date that too

For Some reason I was thinking this one had the bigger pistons, shimmer stock heads and a performance cam.

It’s worth taking apart and checking to be sure

I do know I have two sets of stock heads... any suggestion on performance heads? If I give both sets what would I be looking at for cost of one set of performance heads? I’d like to do heads and a cam in the long run but want to add heads right away.

Built heads are 650. I will gladly give u 200 off a built set if your cores are oldies that have plenty of hours on them
