just cut one of the ends open , knock them out, and weld the end back on? |

I just took the baffles out of mine a couple weeks ago. I cut both ends open with a cutting disk and then used a torch to cut them out. Then had the ends rewelded. Just make sure there are no loose pieces of slag in the muffler when you put it back together. When you are done clean the muffler up real good with a buffer and spray it with high temp. spray paint that contains porcelon. It will look good as new. |

Sparkleberry: Are the baffles loose inside your muffler, i.e., is it rattling? Is your motor less than 2 years old? If this is the case Briggs will replace the muffler under warranty. I had it done on my last motor. Or are you just taking them out as a precautionary measure? |

More than likely, he's taking them out to reduce airflow restriction and try to gain a few extra hp. I'm lookin at doing the same thing to mine. I'm sure some of the other guys that have done this will chime in on any performance gains. |

I did it to mine. It sounds good, but i havent really had a load in it since i did it. So i dont know if there are any real performance gains. |

You won't notice any big performance gains doing this to a stock engine although it does breath a lot better. Also sounds cooler. ![]() ![]() |

Anyone ever take the baffles out of a first generation BPS exhaust? If so, were there any performance gains and how loud was it? |

anytime you cut out the bafflles from a stock exhaust , your going to increase the air flow and get a little more horsepower and throttle responce but you are looking at less back pressure and that spells stalls, backfires and low RPM gains. GO GET A EVT and your problems will be solved. ![]() ![]() |
