If you speak to Hoyt at Gatortail, he recommends head work, cam, pushrods, exhaust, carb replacment or he knows how to adjust factory carb. for maxium preformance. I am very happy with my modifications recommended by Hoyt. I replace my carb. and did the rest of the mods he recommended. I increased speed by 6mph and load carrying ability increased alot. Highly recommend! |

I did alot of stuff to increase flow. Got most of the info here (and a lot of questions answered. I reduced the gear ratio to keep it under 4500RPM. -EVT Stage 1 heads -Old can style BPS exhaust (good high flow muffler) -K&N air filter -Bored out stock intake to combine the chambers and mate to the heads -Carb spacer -Thinned throttle shafts- replaced screw/lock washers on throttle/choke plates with low profile button head screws (loctite them in) -Cut the air intake plate -Trimmed the fan and removed screen mounting HW -Replaced the Gov Spring with one from the MB 45 -Valve lash at .005 Intake (Silk did this): Carb throttle shafts and low profile screws: Cut out intake plate to improve flow- smoothed out the elbow underneath too: Fan trimmed- probably minimal gain: It was a hot motor to start with pushing my heavy boat. |

Probably could have kept the stock jets- have 148/150 in it now so not too much different. The MB 45 runs stock jets 142/148. Really need an exhaust gas analyzer to get it perfect. |
