I'm thinking of swapping out the stock springs and going with a set of doubles. I am wondering how much an aftermarket cam can handle on the lobes along with the rest of the valve train.

The stock rocker bolts are a weak link and can be stripped out very easily if tightened to much ( I think there is even a drastic misprint on the torque specs for those bolts in the service manual).

The double coils from EVT were pretty inexpensive and are easily installed by hand (at least, I did mine in a couple minutes by hand, with a rag stuffed under the chamber and a closed end wrench used to smash the springs down over the stems). Definately a good improvement over the stock springs.

Thanks RC, but I could have done without the rocker bolt info.

The more I get into these BB Briggs, the more I wish PD went with the Kohler.

Pasbon if you see this, get me the plate and stuff to swap over to the BB Kohler from the test rig in 07. ;)
