need help on motor question. Ihave a 35 vanguard w/mikuni carb, bps exhaust. Just recently had the lower unit rebuilt had a bad bearing that i thought was making the motor bog down at about 3500 rpm. took boat out yesterday and motor will get up to 3980 rpm's but when i give it more throttle motor bogs down, go back to previoud throttle motor runs fine at 3980 rpm's. Motor in neutral and i can bump rev limiter easy 4350 rpm's, put in gear and cannot get above the 3980 rpm mark. Any suggestions on what to check would be appreciated. Thanks to all :?:

Sounds like the main jet is off a bit . what main jet do you have ?

I am not sure witch jet is in the carb. When i installed the carb early last year motor ran like a champ, rpm's pushed 4200 to bumping rev limiter when by my self. If it was the main jet do you think it would have done that from the start? I know the carb came with two jets I need to look to see which one I have left. thanks

If it worked well before I would not suspect jet size. You sure you are getting fuel at the higher RPM- have you pulled the fuel bowl to see if there is anything floating in there?

The problems started happening along with your lower unit issues or is this coincident?
