got a friend that will sell me a evt mikuni and intake for a good price. He tells me he took it off because it gave him great top speed but took away alot of his low end, and when installing the intake you have to cut off 2 air flow tabs which if you do alot if idling(bowfishing) the air would blow over the top and ran much hotter than before the kit. also, after installing the kit his idle went up to arounf 6 mph and after trying everything to get it to idle slower for bowfishing changing jets, tweaking, and constantly chaning rpm's he had enough. anyone else seem to have these problems?

im especially worried about cutting these tabs off and overheating.

I would expect it would have a stable idle at lower RPM. I added a carb spacer and can idle @900 4.7mph with the stock carb. I wouldn't expect you would loose low end either, its just a more efficient carb. Maybe the guy had a gasket leak on the intake somewhere. His loss may be your gain if the kit is in good shape and a good price.

The metal cover over the shroud opening is a good idea to force the air through the heads vs coming out the top.

sounds to me like ur source was just a little less mechanically inclined than most and couldn't tune a carb. His loss/ur gain.

yea, iv never heard of hese problems before either, he's very mechanically inclined so maby he just did alittle too much tweaking.
