Post subject:  setting Valves???...help!

I am getting my heads back any day now from EVT. Can one of you guys walk me through setting the valve clearance? And do you know of a good link with pictures?
Oh, and please talk to me like im retarded.

Local Books a Million or Barnes and Nobel have them in stock (at least they did in Texarkana a few years ago).

Pretty good info in there, valve clearance, timing key, carb stuff, etc.

pick up a harmonic dampner puller from any auto parts store and that should do tha trick.

Place a slight bind on the backside of the flywheel and tap center nut with 2# maul it comes right off i did that to mine with 300 hours on it, came right off

The head install and timing key are not dependent on each other. You can install the heads and run it and do the timing key any time. I did the key later and ended up removing it (didn't need it).

I found that the timing key mad the motor come alive not saying that it helped speed wise but it made a difference on throttle response

Advancing the timing will give you an increase in throttle response.

I didn't notice much on my motor- but it ran hot out of the crate.


Well I better advance it cause mine was a lot of things out of the crate and hot wasnt one of them.
