i got my heads at the local engine shop getting a port and polish job and valves shimmed .060. my ? for u guys who know. how much should i deck off the heads for this to be a reliable setup. ive been doin my research but it seems like everyone is taking different numbers of their heads when they deck them, at least thats what ive been reading on here. also the guy i have doing my heads wants to do the valves and backcut them. what are the ideal angles or numbers for these valves so i have something to pass onto him so he can do it for me. i think i worded that right. i hope some of you guys can answer my ?'s or give me recomendations on what to do. the heads are off of a 32 Pro drive |

not to come off as a chock or anything, but any machine shop that is familar with that type of work should be able to figure it out. most of the guys that know those #'s have achieved them through trial & error and some have even made a business out of it. not that the numbers are top secret or propietary for that matter, but theres a reason why it cost what it does from someone who has figured it out! personally, i don't feel right givin' out somethin' that someone else poured their dedication in. ![]() |

I hate to say it but I agree with Coondik. Have them do a good valve job on them- some do 3 angle, some 5 but most spend alot of time there. If they know what they are doing they will know. On decking it depends on what you are going to do with your motor. If you plan to do the internals and whose parts you will use determines how aggressive you want to go with the decking. 0.060 is an option if you are not planning on doing cam etc... On my 35, they are decked 0.060 with the performance head gasket which is a little thicker than stock. |

I would cut them .100 Then go back with .060 head gaskets. |

If u cut em' .100 be sure to get extra short high flow stainless valves Screw olive branches, but I will take a lil smoke & a lot of wine |

thanks deadbird at least i an get a straight answer out of somebody. i went ahead and had him do a 3 angle this morning and he is gonna work on decking them .040 tommorow. or should i have him go ahead and deck em .060 is that a reliable # i know thats what EVT does on theirs just wanting to know from some guys who have run these setups for awhile. |

I won't feel bad for helping you out because shaving heads isn't something that was invented yesterday nor is it G 14 classified. ![]() |
