i just picked up a godevil 5hp briggs and stratton it runs great out of the water and it runs great at the waters surface. once i get into and thick weeds it starts to die out and i have to bring the prop up to the surface to keep it running agian. sounds just like when you hit tall grass with lawnmower. is this because its a small 5hp or do i have some carb problems ? carb was just cleaned and new gaskets. thanks

do the bigger hp longtails do the same in the seaweed? bog down like that?

runa 31 lt on a 20x44 550lb boat and have never bogged it down to where it killed but have strained it a time or two. on my 5-18hp it would bog down so much i dident even want to go through anything with it.

ya, i figured as much. my boat is too big and wide for it. i got the godevil for free so i cant complain just need to throw a bigger motor on it

the mods for the smaller motors arent half as much as the larger ones i think from the whole gokart racing scene the guys with honda 5.5's are pushing 13hp. Just an idea..

just checked on that... they pushin 18hp
