. The motor hadnt been turned up so I turned the screw to that rpm range. Thanks.

What should the RPM's be on a stock 36pd out the water? On the trailer mine's 4250 to 4300, in the water 3950 to 4000. Wondering if this is to much??? I've heard drifferent info on the rpms. |

Thats what mine runs. What does your prop look like? Is it in good shape or worn down? |

Your's is right where mine runs. The rest of your running just depends on load and comfortable tiller torque. |

hey everyone, i've been checking out the site for sometime now and i have a few questions. i have a stock 36pd and just did my yearly maintance (changing spark plugs, fuel filter, oil and filter, lower gear, ect). i have not run it in several months. before the maintance, it would struggle while in idle and eventually die, and surged at higher rpms. i was only getting about 3700-3800 rpms in neutral. after tuning it up i am getting about 4100rpms in neutral and ~3950 with the prop engaged(in water) also, the surging stoped. i had to adjust the idle to around 1100rpms in neutral just to keep the idle at ~800 rpms while the prop is engaged. it sounds to me that i should be getting about 100 more top end rpms and that i should not have to set the idle so high. i haven't replaced the air filter b/c looked clean, but would a higher performance filter work better? any suggestions as to what i can do to help get the most out of the engine would be greatly appreciated. thanks and great site also! btw, the prop has little wear and i am not running to deep. my engines runs best with 1/3 of the prop out of the water. |
