I want to find some parts for my Kohler... I'd like to find a set of heads, intake, and carb from a 30 horse Kohler to replace parts on my 27. Does anyone know of a good source for used parts? I guess I wouldn't be opposed to new parts if they weren't extravagantly expensive. Thanks in advance for any good ideas. |

Crews, I don't have any info for you on the parts but have you thought about finding a 36 power head? |

http://www.midwestsupercub.net/engine_parts.htm one of the best right there. Lakota does good work, "IF" you can get your stuff back. But Midwest is the Shizzle for Kohler. |

just got off the phone with midwest supercub... it would be around $600 to get oem 30 horse heads, intake and 2 bbl. carb. That's not too bad, but I wish I could find some used parts somewhere... |

Heads and the hardware (valves, springs, rockers, gaskets) will be right around the 300 mark based on my 07 invoice. If EVT has an intake I would go with the mikuni over the stock 30 carb seeing as it is a pain to get it dialed in across the powerband. |

just Stage I it crews you won't be sorry. We have done two now that are really happy. We did the head work, timing, 30hp intake with a small mikuni carb on it. We also put an exhaust on it as well. He went from 19 mph by himself to 23 mph with 3 big uns in th boat. It hit 26 mph by himself. His boat is not very efficient niether. The second was a Stage II that was running over 30 mph with one and 25 mph with three. Call us sometime if you want more details. |

thanks James... I'll call Grover tomorrow. Mike, you need to tell that dude to get a new boat! If I try hard, I can hit 26 by myself with stock motor and good prop, 22 with 2 more dudes and hunting gear in a 17x48. |

Yeah his boat did not ride right but when I say big uns I mean 300 pounders a piece. That is alot of weight for a 27HP to push. |

so ya'll bolted a Mikuni to a stock 30hp Kohler intake? does that mean ya'll aren't offering a custom intake for Kohler yet? |

Post subject: | Re: need help finding parts |
the 30hp intake flows well enough so no need to build one at this time. Yes we are able to bolt up a 33mm Mikuni to the 30hp intake. |

would you suggest a Mikuni, or a stock 30 Kohler carb... and why. What is the price difference? |

Post subject: | Re: need help finding parts |
Flat spot on the bottom end with the stock carbs. Price difference was not much. |

I have ran the 30hp intake w/carb and the 30hp heads and like Drake said the 30hp carb has issues. I had to feather into the throttle, wfo it was fine. I was told to open up the idle circuit because Kohlers normally run lean on the low end, but I didn't mess with it. I ended up going back to the stock carb and intake to alleviate this problem. Even though I was running the stock setup other than heads. I was able to run the 32 prop consistently at 26mph on a 1748 BT hull with a top speed of 27.1 by myself. With 2 (240 and 150) in the boat, along with a big cooler of beverages, 12gal gas and a full size battery I was running in the 23-24 range if memory serves me correctly. |
