Post Mild Electic Shock from Key on Van 35
My key has never really worked on my MB van. motor. It starts the engine fine, but when I turn it to the off position it takes about 35 seconds to actually shut down the motor. Recently, I am getting shocked when I go to shut it down via key. I mostly use the emergency kill switch anymore. I didn't really want to take the motor knowing it was brand new and had a problem but the only option the dealer offered was to ship it back to MB and wait a few weeks for a new one. I wanted to go fishing and figured that since it's brand new and under Briggs Warranty I could just have it fixed later. Any thoughts on what the problem might be and if it will get worse??

I'm thinking a loose connection. Can you see the back of the kill switch? If not, remove it and check the connectors on there. I've seen them connectors rattle lose over time. Use a small pair of pliers to smash the end of the connector to ensure a tight fit. Also make sure that there is no contact between any of the wires. That could be causing a short.

sumthin ain't hooked up right in ur ignition switch..... cuz when u turn it off it ain't goin to ground and killlin da engine... instead it's shockin u. Da way it keeps runnin for 30 seconds is because it still has fire when da key is turned off, but turnin da key off kills power to da fuel shut-off solenoid on da carb.... so it runs until it runs out of gas.

Check the ground on your ignition switch, it fell off.
