 generac problem
I have a 32 generac pd and last year it ran fine. But everytime i try to take it out this year it wont run right when in the water when it is out of the water it will run fine in the water it will run ok for a bit then will bog down and die. I bring it home and take carb off and clean it usually has gunk in it. took it out again today and done the same thing only this time the exhaust caught fire out of the outlet. I shut it down the cranked again fire again so i cut the fuel down some and that stopped the fire but still wouldnt run right. I will work fine for a short time then bog down and die. I've changed the plugs also. Any help would be great thanks and if anybody has any info on the eldebrock carb that works on theses would be great thinking of trying that. thanks

 Re: generac problem
I checked that and have spark in both cylinders I also checked compression and have 90-100 lbs in both. I took the bowl off the carb again and it didnt have anything blocking the jets.

 Re: generac problem
Check the simple stuff first............ 1) is the gas tank vented properly 2) check primer bulb 3) check fuel pump 4) check to make sure you are getting fire to both plugs 5) Check plug wires and see if they are arching

 Re: generac problem
Is it possible you have water in gas tank? Whenever I have unexplained misfires or fuel related problems the first thing I do is grab some seafoam and put it in the tank. Specially with ethanol blend and vehicles that sit alot.

 Re: generac problem
Thanks i will try those things. I bought a 6 gal tank to replace my 12 gal and moved it to the back of the boat to see if it is having problems pulling fuel from the front of the boat. thanks again

 Re: generac problem
Generac is a great motor but the carb and gov system are junk.. I pulled mine off and installed an Edlebrock.. Not an easy mod but it helped a bunch.. You could do the samething using a Mikuni as well... Do you have an inline fuel pump? If not get one it will help.. 2-4 psi Purolator will help a lot..
