Fixing to buy a new GT rig and was wondering how many hours should I out on my new motor before I start doing some mods to it? Or are these motors good enough to start moding right from the get go? |

Personal preference. Your Briggs warranty is 2 years, if you're not worried about that get after it. |

If it were me, I'd have Hoyt go ahead and do a stage 1 while the boat was being built...... It'd be easier that way. |

The most unreliable thing on a gator tail from my experience is the motor sitting on the frame, now I have had the internal fuel pump go out, busted diaphragm so I had to pump a ball to keep the motor running, stock crank case gasket leak at 70 hours, choke linkage break. All of that was under a hundred hours.Modded the motor knowing I would void the warranty, lets just say I'm a glutton for punishment ![]() |
