I am kind of torn between 2 options. First is a gator tail 1648 with a 25 horse big block. My main concern with this is how fast I will be able to go. It is about 16,000. Second is a 1848 with a 37 horse gator tail. Less extras, for around 17,000. Anybody have experience with either setups? Or have any suggestions on a boat and motor for around 16-17K. Thanks |

If you don't run any restricted wma' s, then spend the extra money and get the 18x48 with the 37. It will have better speed and load carrying capabilities. Most people who opt for a smaller boat and motor to save money end up regretting it and selling the rig to buy a bigger one. I learned that from personal experience. |

If you don't have to get a 25 for restricted areas then don't. You will be happier with the 37 and longer boat I'm sure |

Hard to beat an 18x48 for overall size and performance..... Especially the ones with USCG approved floatation - ![]() |

Bryce, don't you know, uscg flotation improves performance and makes overall size more useful *facepalm* #CFFITR #TheGhostBoat #whoneedsphysicsihaveamudmotor |

What type of speed do you think I could get out of the 18 footer? It's the extreme. |

Asked and answered many times on this site. Very few times were truthful, though lol Figure 27-30 solo, empty. Maybe a tad more. Start adding hunting gear and people, it'll lose some speed, but not nearly as much as that 1648 would. #CFFITR #TheGhostBoat #whoneedsphysicsihaveamudmotor |

Give me less HP, or less load carrying capacity! Said nobody ever! And a good "Vote for Hillary" sticker adds 1.2 mph! |

I went the route of a smaller decked out hull first: I now have an 1848 empty and I like it more. I will say an extended deck is about the 1 option I wish I’d gotten. Get the room & hp!! add fancy shit later Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
