Hey guys I have a 35GT having issues turning over. With battery fully charged it with spin fine, but sometimes you have to go back and forth with the key to get it to turn again. I checked all grounds , put a new ground bar under console and this is my third starter in a few years, also changed key switch. It's like I'm losing voltage really fast when cranking. Any suggestions? |

Id be willing to be you are not getting proper voltage to the yellow wire at the starter solenoid.. Starters RARELY go out on these units. I add a relay and use that yellow wire to trigger the relay and send the full voltage to the Starter solenoid. |

yep. rarely <_< he's right about the yellow wire. it's the first thing to have issues and cause what you're describing. that wire will eventually break up inside. also make sure your starter posts are all clean and valve lash is set correctly. #CFFITR #TheGhostBoat #whoneedsphysicsihaveamudmotor |

Thanks for the help. Would you just run a whole new yellow wire? Where would the relay go? Russ the valves are good just put new heads on and they ready to roll as soon as I get this turning over deal fixed!! |

Yeah the voltage drop from battery - key switch - then back to solenoid. I replaced my starter with new battery and it still does it sometimes! But when I go to starter and jumper it from "hot" post to solenoid(where yellow wire connects) at the starter it always turns over. Someone(WillC) suggested a good relay rigging by the starter would fix that problem. And that does make sense. That or a 2 size bigger wire from battery to key to solenoid. just 3 1/2 cents worth. |

I just swapped out the smaller gage wire with a larger gage and it spins over great. You are experiencing voltage drop thru. the smaller wire imo. Wiring a relay in is a great idea as well. |

Yall are correct on the old wires. I recently found a dryrotted wire on my PD harness, so i rewired the whole thing, every wire. Its amazing that a new battery with new wires will make my starter spin like a dremel now. I had the same issue, thought it was the key switch. |

Twice recently Ive had motors that wouldn't spin well. Both had some nice jumper cables turned into starter wires. Cables looked good but something about the wire wouldn't do the job. Both times I built fresh cables from #2 wire and they worked great. |
