 High idle 37efi
Have a 37efi mudbuddy with around 13 hours. It starts to idle high after it’s warmed up and shifts really hard. Idles Above 1000 rpm. Saw an older thread where the solution was to take it into the shop for re- programming. No shop near me so wondering if there’s another solution that’s come around.

 Re: High idle 37efi
I idle around 1200 so it can splash oil to lubricate. What’s the problem here?

 Re: High idle 37efi
Shifts really hard compared to what? Another mudbuddy? That clutch plate gets pulled in when the magnet engages and makes a racket. Trim up to avoid the prop suddenly making the boat jump around, but since there's a belt between the gears, I wouldn't worry about it. Turn it too slow and the oil doesn't splash up as well where it needs to be. Leave it alone if its idling fine.

 Re: High idle 37efi
It’s a sport V so no belt. Boat doesn’t jump just feels like it slams into gear... unnaturally if that makes sense. Like somethings going to break given enough reps. Want to say it idles around 1200 so if that’s normal then so be it. Thanks.

 Re: High idle 37efi
1000-1200 is normal idle for a stock Briggs. Don’t know if the sport V requires anything different but I’d be surprised. The gears are always connected (though not in motion). Only the clutch is what engages on and off and there is always a slap when that engages at 800+rpms. First mud motor perhaps? They make weird sounds.

 Re: High idle 37efi
EFI's are set to idle about 850. If you are seeing higher idles the TPS isn't in synch with the throttle position.

Yep, that’s what it was. Thanks for the help.
