I just bought a 36hp 2012 model prodrive with a newer low hours 2014 engine on it and trying to figure out which parts are which on prodrives parts breakdown, I see a 613700 and a 613777, both say 36hp but seeing a huge difference in price of parts between the two. For specifics I want to replace the starter and solenoid because the solenoid is corroded badly, the starter works fine btw, just don't want to be stranded when the corrosion finally breaks contact and leaves me stranded, the starter assembly for the 613700 is around $75 whereas the 613777 is $260. I'm poor but I'm a good mechanic so any money I can save helps a lot. |

The "high torque" starter for the Briggs is not one I consider reliable. Other people have had better experiences than me. I use the older part number, and spend 80 on an off brand. It spins far better than the newer high torque version. I'll look it up in a bit and post a link. I don't remember the part numbers right now. #CFFITR #TheGhostBoat #whoneedsphysicsihaveamudmotor |

This is the one I've purchased. I have one on my dad's, stock engine. I also have one on my fully modded Briggs. https://www.amazon.com/DB-Electrical-SN ... 3TA90FHV5R #CFFITR #TheGhostBoat #whoneedsphysicsihaveamudmotor |

They're not the same in this case. But I have a fairly high compression engine and I have zero issues turning the engine over. #CFFITR #TheGhostBoat #whoneedsphysicsihaveamudmotor |

One other quick question for ya russ. Is there any difference in the solenoids? Thats the biggest thing is the solenoid is pretty corroded, starter is strong but I'm scared if I try taking just the solenoid off I'll break the starter wires which I'm sure are corroded as well. Why i was looking for an entire replacement setup. |

Get the whole setup. You can take the old starter to a local alternator/starter shop and let them rebuild it and replace the solenoid if you want a backup. Me and Briggs starters have a hate relationship. #CFFITR #TheGhostBoat #whoneedsphysicsihaveamudmotor |

To answer your question, though, no. The solenoid from one should work fine on the other. #CFFITR #TheGhostBoat #whoneedsphysicsihaveamudmotor |
