You’d get far better bang for your buck getting your heads worked first and using people other than backwater for that. Reach out to Maxxis or Will C on this forum and they will do you right.

For the same cost as a mikuni, you will actually see results from head work.

Heads and exhaust will get you allot more, than a carb. In order, heads, exhaust, cam minkuni, pistons and rods of you want to go all out.

Not trying to hijack someone's thread.

Do you recommend waiting to have the head decked after a certain amount of hours in the motor? Does anyone know of a place to have head work done around Maryland area?

They say put at least 50 hours on the heads to season them, then take them off and send them to Will or Marcus and be happy happy happy lol

The heads fit in a flat rate box. Marcus (Maxxis) did mine and he’s probably 6hr drive away so I mailed them. Had them back in around 2 weeks.

Highly recommend both Marcus and Will C. Very good and knowledgeable and will go out of there way to help you (I know this first hand).

Decking is nothing. Can do whenever. The reason you season heads is the valve seats tend to "walk" or "wander". Once seasoned, a good valve job can take place. Has nothing to do with the combustion chamber. Now decking will give power. Wandering valve seats and such will produce leaking valves, thus power loss.

The heat and cool cycles are more important than hours to season the heads. I've done them with only 30 hours and been fine. If you're riding around to stack up hours, let the engine cool back down as much as you can between run times.

If I stuck my finger in my nose and took off running, you would have to call an ambulance, cuz my old ass would pass out.
