I took the kids water skiing yesterday. When we left the mud boat was at the dock with the trim all the way up. When we came back the trim was all the way down. I figured it must be leaking. So I hit the switch to raise it back up. As I was walking away I heard the trim turn on and go down a few inches then stop. Then a minute later it went all the way down. So I raised it back up and started to walk away again when the trim motor turn on again, but this time it was trying to go up. Only way to stop it was to disconnect the battery. I looked in the football to see if there were any obvious shorts. Everything looked fine. Any ideas what’s going on? |

There is 2 styles early style(pos) and the later style which has rounded buttons its actually a Mercury switch,if its old style order 2 you wont regret it.I normally keep 5 or 6. |

Well... I replaced the trim switch. I am still having erratic trim issues. Now it will work sometimes and that others. Today it worked for a minute and then it started to struggle until it stopped. I checked the battery and it is showing me 12.6 V. Now I'm thinking possibly there is water in the trim motor causing shorts. |

Under the football where the wire come through the handle,,, very common to have wire rub throughs in this spot. At least eliminate this possibility before continuing. If u find a short then also replace the 40a breaker. It takes a beating when a wire is shorted |
