Has anybody tried to use RTV silicone for the valve cover gasket rather than using the stock valve cover gasket? Would there be to much pressure? It seems like it would be easier to use and clean up then the graphite gasket material. |

Will C is hoping I wouldn't chime in... I've just reused if it's in good shape. Dont bother with rtv. |

Yeah, I've used them over and over and did tear one years ago. I used plain black rtv and it worked but had to scrape it off next valve adjustment. I typically keep an extra set of gaskets but will keep using the same ones until they quit working. I wipe head and cover with rubbing alcohol and wipe off the gasket both sides too and put it together. Never had a problem as long as it's not torn. |
