 Re: Go Devil Boat
It's a 1999. I now wonder if I should tear into the pods in the back...

 Re: Go Devil Boat
Do you think there's any way to dry out the foam? Like pull up the floor flotation and then have the nose of the boat hoisted way up and let gravity work?

 Re: Go Devil Boat
I have an 1856 go devil and can attest to the floor. I'll bet my floor foam was over 100-150 pounds. Bought some replacement foam from GD and it reminds me of the base material in fake plant pots. I know I certainly can't lift the front of my boat without much strain, but there's got to be a way to dry that stuff out somehow.

 Re: Go Devil Boat
^^^ Well, if you find a way to dry it out please share it with the rest of us. I was told there is no way to do it; that you have to remove it and replace it with something else. I would never have used their crap again. But I can see why they use the stuff in the floor that's resistant to organic chemicals, such as gasoline. I believe they have no choice if they want their boat to be USCG approved but why on earth they use anything similar to the spray foam that absorbs moisture in the rest of the boat is beyond comprehension. How many times have you ever heard of anyone ever spilling gasoline on their front decks or flotation pods? They probably use the spray crap because it's easiest to do. Not labor intensive like cutting and forming blocks of styrofoam to fit the voids.

 Re: Go Devil Boat
Here's what the front floor area now looks like after being replaced with styrofoam.
new go devil flotation.jpg
I riveted the floor back down today and SLID the boat back onto the trailer. Man that Gator Glide is awesome stuff!!!!
Anyway - I also drilled out and replaced the rivets holding the split seat storage lids and used silicone caulk to seal them up as well as put about 30 or so rivets in places that the previous owners had screw holes in the front deck and in the rear pods, using silicone caulk on each of them and also filled in some holes with silicone - also in the rear pods. I also ran a bead of caulking over the length of the top of the pods where there were gaps where they didn't weld them but where water could leak in. Hopefully it'll keep water from getting in there.
