Post Welding boat plug tube
So i bought a couple sticks of 1" sch40 aluminum pipe for building a leaning post for my boat and i was hoping to add a second plug hole to my boat with a scrap peice. I got the pipe but my standard boat plug doesnt seal up in it. Did they give me the wrong stuff or do you need something different for the plug tube? Id measures like 1 1/32 maybe 1 1/16 id? Whats the deal? What do yall builders use for this?

I buy some thin tubing from a hardware store (because I don't need a 20' piece). It's too tight so I have to trim a little out with a die grinder to make the plug go in it.

But not sure on the size.
