 Boatbuilders.....hook repair
Lil back story. For those that remember, I use to have a taper at the bottom of my transom, bounced like crazy. Installed wedges, didn't like em. So I decided to cut out the taper and box it in normal. It's been like this for over a year now. Now issues till now. When I had the taper, the back of the hull stopped at the end of my trailer. Now that it's blocked in, the hull overhangs the trailer boards just enough that I believe it caused this. Now my ribs stop 5" from the back of the hull. I've always done it like this but mine is the first with a taper that I built. So initially, the hull fit the trailer, till I modified the hull.
I thought about getting longer boards to extend to end of hull. It's a custom aluminum trailer and the hitch stop is welded and can't be adjusted. I could move it but boards would be easier. Thought about changing boards, then place a piece of steel plate I have over the boards at the ass end. The. Because I can access the whole area of the hook, tap it from inside and the plate should prevent it from overshooting. What do you guys do to remove hooks of attemp to remove em?

 Re: Boatbuilders.....hook repair
You need the bunks to run past the transom to support the weight of the boat/motor, otherwise the bunks will cause hooks as you bounce down the road. That's the first thing to address.
For hooks, I put a piece of 2x12 on a floor jack under the hook area and pound it with a 4x4 from the top. Note, once the AL is flexed, it will probably hook there again. Would be good to add more bracing in the area in front of the motor to keep it from hooking there (those are the performance killers), but you don't want to add a hook point farther up the hull either.

Your tower for the winch must be welded on. If not move the winch up 4 inches.

I could be misinterpreting the problem your having ... but have you tried moving the winch post forward 3-4 inches?

 Re: Boatbuilders.....hook repair
Cut the winch post off and move that bitch forward. Problem solved. You built the boat so I know you can weld aluminum. When I finished my boat I used my trailer from my 16' boat. Ended up adding a swing away tongue and whacking the winch post and moving it forward to solve the problem. Piece of cake.

Moving the hitch is the easy part, but do all of yall beat em out like deadbird? Just looking for all possible options.

I was told that if you fill them instead of beat them out, they won't come back because the metal's already stretched. Don't know how much truth there is to that, but it sounds nice.
