 Horizontal Rod Holders
Have a 17x54 extreme haul and tired of breaking rods and not paying $550 for a rod box. Does anyone have any ideas or pictures of some nice rod holders to get them off the floor of the boat?

 Re: Horizontal Rod Holders
Weld a piece of flat bar to the side of the boat that's drilled and tapped, then mount a regular old rod holder like you'd use in a bass boat.

I know this doesn't apply to what you want, but I'll throw this in for whoever may be interested. I have a u-shaped grab bar so I made this out of PVC pipe, aluminum flatbar, and SS bolts. The middle pipe is to hold a small cajun anchor. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1430948596.725424.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1430948613.091525.jpg

 Re: Horizontal Rod Holders
I am also interested if someone has come up with something really good and innovative. I have the flatbar idea on the port side but my homemade push pole and spud pole are held. On the starboard side I have a switch panel made into my grab bar so space is limited.

 Re: Horizontal Rod Holders
The custom marine rigging shop that does all the work on my two boats used some kind of special epoxy to attach bolts on the side of my boat; I can ask him what he used. All I know is that the epoxy is stronger than the aluminum it's stuck to. You can see my rod holders in this thread; I use them for fishing rods, my marsh flag (Florida law), and my Cajun anchors. I can get four rods on each side of the boat. viewtopic.php?f=8&t=61585It looks like there are bolts through my hull, but there aren't.

 Re: Horizontal Rod Holders
west marine sells these DU-BRO rod holders too. The ones I have are on a track, so they are adjustable. http://www.amazon.com/DU-BRO-Fishing-Ro ... rod+holder
