Post Best hull for 23hp copperhead, 2 guys and gear....GO!!
Subject says it all. 2 guys (500 lbs), gear, primarily hunt cattail sloughs. I want an open floor plan and no frills. Basic run of the mill mud hull with no rear bench preferably (can cut it out). Fairly set on a Copperhead 23 based on reviews, weight and price.

Have you looked at the Phowler hulls? The Prowler serious was designed specifically for the Copperhead motors.

Cottonmouth Custom boats.... They've gotten some really good performance out of the Copperhead motors. They have a website, and they're also a sponsor here.

Like Johnny-O said, Phowler has a newer line of lighter hulls in .100 gauge, the 1744/1844 should be the ticket. They are not cheap but then you'll be getting a lifetime hull. They are big enough down the road you can get more horses if needed. I am also pondering the 23 Copperhead because of its light weight and output and cost!

Where are you located, I make custom boats, and have a couple .100 hulls here if you want to try one

I built a 1548 all 1/8 with seat, floor and small deck with a 23 copperhead and it runs 26-27 solo and he said it with run above 20 with a 3 man hunting load.

I'm located in So. MN
The reason I mentioned no frills is because I don't want to break the bank. Most of the "mud hulls" have more options than I'm interested in. Thank you for the options so far, I'll check them out and keep em coming.

Budget? As cheap as I can get the options I want. I'm not a fan of the phowler boats, too narrow.
Ideal size is 16×48 with the 16 including the hunt deck (whether it's factory or I add it on.)
