Post New Bowfishing Setup
Decided to make the switch from the 4" LEDs to some large reflector warm white LEDs. While I was at it I figured why not redo my rails for the front.

Progress is coming along. Have two more mounts to shorten so I can add two lights to the front then have to hard mount the lights with bolts and to nuts. Everything is zip tied right now so I can adjust the locations of each light.

Post New Bowfishing Setup
Old setup (14 square 27w LEDs with amber tint).

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1457279071.250015.jpg

Pros:
- lights are relatively cheap. Normally bought through Amazon with prime shipping.
- the amber tape helped cut the glare from the white LEDs.
- runtime was normally 6-7 hours before dimming noticeably.

Cons:
- not all were ordered from same place so pattern and light quality were not identical.
- flood pattern just wasn't wide enough for my liking. There were always shadows where the beams crossed which led to all my "expert" friends constantly trying to adjust them up/down, left/right.

Killed a lot of fish over the 27's but wanted to try something different.

New setup (10 - 30w warm white 120 degree floods)

Pros:
- 120 degree flood pattern is nice. Lights are spaced further apart with no shadows in between.
- warm white color took a little getting used to compared to the white led with Amber lens, but they did penetrate the water enough to see fish in dirty water.
- cheaper than the 50w lights with really not much noticeable difference. When I bought these I bought 1 to try and we mounted it next to 1 of my friends 50w. The difference to me wasn't enough to validate the extra cost per light.

Cons:
- runtime was between 5-6 hours last night before dimming. Not positive batteries were both at 100% before the trip. Will test that out further.
- not sure how tough the lenses are on these. No casualties last night but will keep an eye on them especially from kicked up rocks from my tires while driving
- mounts are flimsy 1/8". Debating on making some stronger mounts.

First trip was a success. 3 man trip
15 reds
5 sheepshead
4 black drum
1 nice sized gar

Very nice! I actually just got done redoing mine to go with 12 volt led. I did a combo with the 27 watts (the ones gator tail sells with their rails) and 2 (1 each side as the last lights of the row ) 40 watt large reflectors. Planning on trying it out next weekend (no rain so water should be clear). I tested it yesterday for run time, had the lights running with the trolling motor running on low as well off of 2 parallel deep cycles. I was ready to go to bed when I turned it off. It ran 4 hours and still had 62% charge.
