Opinions and ideas for my dream rig ?
I'm looking at maybe getting a new hull and swap my motor over to the new hull. I know this has Ben asked a million times but what boat do yall recommend . I know there is difference in opinion. Just wondering which hull would be best for a CC rig Gatortail. I'm looking for a boat that can handle a marsh with 2 inches or less of water but can also go out in the lake and handle rougher water . I want something that handles well but can also handle the mud ( my lease has no trees ) . This will be my dream rig I can fish and hunt ( from time to time) out of . I know I want atleast a 18-54 modified v with 21 inch sides and an extended hunt deck . No or a small hunting deck . I might just decide to do duals but will prolly just keep the motor I have ( stage 2 Gtr ) . Dunno if I want a round chine, triple chine or square chine . What do yall recommend prodigy, Gatortail, prowler, excel, edge, outlaw, WC customs , marsh monster , Go-devil , stun jumper, gator trax, havoc boats ect ? I might just get my cuz to build me a boat but I'm still trying to get ideas . Any input would be great .

18/54 with extended front deck hunt deck power pole if you don't run trees and a pointed front with no semi v would be my choice

Re: Opinions and ideas for my dream rig ?
I'd get the mod-V for sure. I have one and I think it helps in rougher water and doesn't affect performance in the shallows at all. I also like how it parts vegetation.
I like my rounded chines for turning, but at the same time I think a 3/16" bottom and 1/8" sides would be nice...

Re: Opinions and ideas for my dream rig ?
CAT 5 Does not exactly meet your measurements but.... 17.5' x 52". Very light, I am under 1000# motor, fuel, blind, seats and safety gear I haul. This is a scale weight not a WAG (wild azz guess). Stepped chine, semi V at bow, full floatation, kevlar outer skin, etc., etc. New prop and no extra junk on board, just under 30 with a bone stock GTR. http://www.cat5composites.com/Hope they still build them for the public.

Re: Opinions and ideas for my dream rig ?
I know everybody here knows this, but for any new guys or guests, it's a "V rake", not a mod-v or semi-v hull.

Re: Opinions and ideas for my dream rig ?
Same here iv heard mod-v , v rake ect. I know ideffinatley don't want a skiff. Nice boat btw what that cat 5 run you. Not what I'm looking for but a nice boat. I'm leaning towards the 18-54 or 18-60 f-4 excel. I've heard s few people love the boats. I'm deffinatley getting a power pole !

Re: Opinions and ideas for my dream rig ?
I like catwalks and very few internal boxes. I've got one 45deg. Half box in the starboard rear corner and a large front deck storage and that seems just right for me. I've got buddies who went with gun boxes, rod lockers etc. and to me it clutters up the interior of the boat to much for me? Plus they are storage areas that can make things disappear for the entire season and are very good at storing stagnant water etc. lol. Buddy thought he lost his jerk rig overboard and when he cleaned out his storage areas he found it in the bottom of one of them. For me an organized waterfowl/fishing boat is the key to a stressless day on the water. IMO of course..........
Also built in nav lights (sharkeyes) and a max-it-out stern light. Zero issues and again stress/problem free trips.... A good bilge system I've got twin 1500 gph rules with the Jr. System wired in for auto bilge pump Function. Basically a pumped out boat when you get in at zero dark thirty. No waiting around to empty it out before leaving the dock. Led interior lights are nice as well. This gives you something to spend your hard earned cash on.
As for me I wouldn't be without these items.

Re: Opinions and ideas for my dream rig ?
Well I keep track of where I put things after each hunt. I do play on having a catwalk. I want a rod/ gun box but might just buy boat gun slings. I'll prolly install a 24" light bar. And will have shark eye nav lights. I will deffinatley have a bilge pump.

Get a custom made boat to your specifications. If not, get a gator tail boat. They will get it set up and fit for what you want with that center console motor.

Is that the new prodigy ice breaker model? Actually cool, looks like extra strength for hitting stuff. Are all the V's that way?

Nice looking boat but if I go outboard it would be a fiberglass boat. Nice looking boat though.

Re: Opinions and ideas for my dream rig ?
Yes but how often will I have more then 2 in my boat ? Only when I'm hunting. Even hunting you don't wanna go fast to our blind. It's a Very oxbow river. Plus it's like 5 min away. My deck know is extended . I have had zero difference in my performance before and after I added my deck. They can sit there ass on the front deck ! Lol jk. But yes I have taken that into consideration. But my duck blinds only 5 min away VS extra room to stand fishing. I'm pretty set on a triple tapered chine now. Thanks for the suggestion though I'll keep it in consideration.

Based on what you are wanting in a boat look really hard at prodigy they are great boats. They also did a evolve hull with removable decks which was really nice. They have a Facebook page with a ton of pics. They make a awesome boat I am so glad I went with Chad.

Re: Opinions and ideas for my dream rig ?
Just wish they had a dealer close by on my side of the state so I can look at some boats in person and see my options. Hate deciding over the phone what I want. Plus I am working a lot don't have much time to talk on the phone anyway. I'll have to Waite till I'm off and give mitch a call. They have Ben super nice . Where is the Boat Dr located ?

Re: Opinions and ideas for my dream rig ?
I am in the same positon as you (shopping for a boat) and my first look was the excel too. Then i began to research and realized i can get a custom prodigy EXACTLY how i want but WAY better built than an excel for almost the same price and have it have more options for that price. Just wanted to share my identical experience...i decided on prodigy. BTW, i have seen both in person and you will not be disappointed with the prodigy, they are super solid ride great and are high quality.

I agree the more I hear about excel the less I want want. There customer service is great but I'm not interested in them anymore. I'd like to see a prodigy boat in my area before I decide.
