 Re: New Houseboat Build
First order of aluminum has been delivered!!! Now time to burn some aluminum and start building the water tank and the 3 aluminum rakes. Decided to go with 4"x1/4" channel as the floor joist instead of going with 2"x10" wood. This way I will be 1' wider and have aluminum to weld my spud pole mounts to. 8K goes fast at a Aluminum supply house. The tanks and rakes will be all 3/16" and 1/4" everywhere else.

 Re: New Houseboat Build
One mile stone! Got on pontoon ready to be floated. Weather sucked today and it sucked even more to get this bolted together. Now got to weld 4 more braces and bolt up two more pontoons.

Ah now I remember that shed. Was just DTB instead of UTB.
Maybe I'll stop over and see it one day.

 Re: New Houseboat Build
None recent, I have some older ones. IMG_1230.JPG IMG_1214.JPG
The floorplan is basically cut in half. The camp is 20'x40' with a 10' front and 10' back deck. The living / kitchen is 20'x20' in the front. the back section is a bath 5'x8', 2- 10'x10' seperate bedrooms and some bunks that were working on in the back as well. The inside isn't finished yet. Some molding and plumbing. I've been working on this sucker for a long time now. Every time I go to the hardware sote, its $1000. Lots of work, but the entire camp is insulated and sheeted with beadboard plywood siding. I used 1000 gal propane tanks plus the tanks front and back we built to float it. So when we go huntiong, we hunt in the morn, then lite the pit or cook, and work and drink in the evening.

 Re: New Houseboat Build
The siding in the pic is actually wicker color vinyl soffet. I ran it vertical to look like T111 plywood. There are no visible seams or joints. The drop that I cut off for the wall is used for the soffet, so it cuts down on the waste. All i did was drill some 1/8" holes about every foot in the J mold at the bottom to allow the water to pass through. Jmold at the top and bottom, no seams, like it alot. Even on the long runs on the vaulted front porch, no seams, one run.

 Re: New Houseboat Build
Its still a work in progress. The living is vaulted to 14'. The tent was because the kids left the damn door open and it filled with humming bird size skeeters and I didn't have my therma cell, but old dad had a big ass tent. I just need the molding in my room. IMG_1155.JPG IMG_2391.JPG
The attic section will have a 2 ton AC unit and heater. If I had the money, this bitch would be long finished. But I do a little at a time when I get some extra scratch. Just a lot of work. Its basically like building a small house.

 Re: New Houseboat Build
Actually Uncle J and I were talking about this, hell last year before he built his. Thats how long its taking us. Time, just no time, and a hell of a lot of money. Hell, I think Uncle J is finished his. The vaulted ceiling can get a little cold in the winter but we like the look. But sucker is insulated to the gills. You start cooking and in no time, your in a pair of shorts. The way i figure, Rome wasn't built in a day. Do it right the first time and enjoy. If I had the $$$, I would have hired a bunch of mexicans, loaded their ass up, cooked them some f'n tacos, and let them finish the bitch. But the best part of it, is when we sit on the porch, sippin, were like "remember when you fell off the roof in the mud". Good memories in building your own.

 Re: New Houseboat Build
Saw it on side the road a couple days ago. I see you pushed it in water. You gonna have 3 runs on that thing huh. Should float good and high.
