 Re: Gatorglide.
I saw a huge difference on land/vegetation crossings as expected. I gps 'd 1 mph higher than I've been( and that was deep not shallow) but can't tag that to the GG. Could have been any number of things. More tiller time will tell. I felt it made a huge difference in mud, I found myself in spots were previously I lacked that little push to get going and plane out. Today I jumped up no problem. I had a small dealing with sand, it sucked. I over slid a turn to a bank that was almost solid sand. It was like Velcro, I new something was up when I jumped out to push. I have a good video of me doing 360* but couldn't bite and actually slid. The GG was too slick so it looked like a bunch of cursive "e's".
Now launching the boat alone is something I will have to relearn.

 Re: Gatorglide.
OK guys I'm sold on it. Ready to order just need some advice as to how much I need. Is the coverage similar to paint I have a 1648. Would a quart or half gallon be enough? Don't mind spending the money just don't want to have much left over. Thanks In advance

 Re: Gatorglide.
1/2 gallon would be sufficient in my opinion , probably have a little for touch up later .

 Re: Gatorglide.
When ordering the GG does the gator base come with it or do you buy it separate. Also do you have to have the gator base or can you apply GG to the scuffed aluminum?

 Re: Gatorglide.
G2 , and G4 are different , G2 is a little slicker than the base and can be used and applied without the base on a prepped surface.

 Re: Gatorglide.
I just put GG on as well and took it out Sunday. No real gain on top speed in deep water but I did get on plane in half the time. Loading and unloading was awesome. I litterly touched the water when unloading with bunk boards 6 inches above water. Touched the boat and it slid into water. Loading boat I put the bunks 3 inches inches into water and drove it till bow touched the rubber stop while idling. No dealings with mud yet but already impressed with it.

Launched / Picked up off a flooded road few times this year, the carpet on my bunks grabs the boat some but I can still launch way easier than I ever could before! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTRo1avkkRs

 Re: Gatorglide.
has anyone put after production 'chines' on the side of their boats to help the sliding in turns? I like the ease of sliding the boat off stuff, but not the fact that turning seems to out the door once Gator glide is on the boat.

 Re: Gatorglide.
My boat still turns the same after gatorglide.
A flatbottom square chine boat is just gunna slide regardless.

What he said! ^^^^
My slides have been there since day 1. Don't think the GG changed that at all.
Don't know if they help or not, my brother has these on his boat.

 Re: Gatorglide.
Due to weather some guys have been delayed getting their GG or just can't apply it yet. For the sake of fairness the contest will run till the end of May.

 Re: Gatorglide.
Well I've had some time to ness around with the GG. Overall I'm happy with it and would do it all over again. It did well at the mudrun helping the 25 break through the muds suction. The veggies I have been through were like running over butter. I didn't see. Marked speed increase but have not GPS'd in previous locations for comparison. The application was relatively easy. I had an issue with the base bring clumpy but overall the application went great. I having a smaller boat I opted to buy the beer and get some buddies to help be flip it. I modified a heavy palate into an engine stand. I used my gun box and some old drawers to prop the boat up.

 Re: Gatorglide.
I then scuffed the aluminum per the included instructions. I went the full length up the rake, and fairly high on the sides. These spot I used a tiger disk to get through the paint. I came back with the 100grit to give it a tighter pattern. On the bare aluminum the 100grit was plenty to get an anchor pattern. This process only took an afternoon.

 Gatorglide.
Note on base, don't mix it all at once.
I knew to measure it in increments but I had a genius thought " I'm not saving any of the base for re applying so I'll just mix it all". Not my finest moment but you adapt and overcome. I ended up getting 4 nice coats but had to toss about a 1/4. I could have got a total of 6 or 7. No biggie. I did have an issue with the base being gritty. This didn't affect the overall product but it was a pain to work through.

 Re: Gatorglide.
I waited the recommended time between base and G2. Actually much longer, the hardest part of my application was the weather cooperating.
The G2 was a breeze compared to the issue I hade with the base. I made 7 thin coats and saved a 1/4 for future touch ups.

 Re: Gatorglide.
Trail wring I an getting used to. What I find works best for me (launching alone) is putting the bunks just above the water, unhooking and pushing the boat out. Actually you don't push you hold on while you unhook then let go and it slides off. To load I do as I always had put the bunks down in the water and pull the boat up.
Overall I would recommend this product. It does wear but the upkeep is worth the performance benefits.
