Did you measure the distance from the tongue to each tire? That sounds more probable than a bald tire. A bad tire won't make your trailer walk all over as much as an axle out of square will. When it's out of square, the trailer will attempt to slightly drift out from behind you, and then, the fact that your truck is pulling it, it will be violently yanked right back behind you, then start the process right over again. That in itself will cause the tire to prematurely wear as well.
