 boat help Please
Live in East Tx will be running local rivers lakes no duck hunting just hogs n deer quite a bit of fishing I am purchasing MB 23 Long Tail will spend all this years savings on motor (I like New),have money for used grizzly 1648 will that boat be ok if so do I need mods or should i wait and get a mud boat? Thank you for your time

that boat will work, though you will draft deeper than a mud boat. transom height 16" or 21" matters when buying motor. 23 hp expect 17 to 18 mph with that boat dry with the 9x5 prop.
don't need a mud boat unless you're going in mud.

Yep, if you stay in the outboard boat lanes you'll be fine.
Any time the hull hits something ( stumps, logs, rocks, who knows what) you will cuss yourself for not having a slick bottom. If you don't have the money it is a temporary fix that will run OK.

thank you all for your input I need to do some thinking I may need to buy a used motor but I dont know what to look for to make sure im buying the right one I know about the engine part but the drive assembly stumps me im a boat and watercraft mechanic but we dont have any of these come in so this will be my first if anyone has sugestions im open and eager Thank you again

Last night I got an 11 hp LT in a trade and I have a little 14/36 rivited to put it on that should give me an Idea about what I want but I think the new motor and welded boat will be fine for me If I decide to I can get a SD and a smooth bottom later on nothing wrong with multiple shallow water boats one for every occation I have prop boats and jet skis nothing fancy just like watercraft
