Well its no wonder it costs +- $650 to get a boat painted. Its alot of prep work. I spent around $110 in primer/paints, $60 in paint stripper, $15 for the hvlp gun(already had the air compressor), $15 alumi-brightner, $30 for the boat letters. Here is the short story. I used paint stripper from Home Depot and took my boat back down to the bare aluminum with the help of a pressure washer. I then used alumi-brightner to clean it real good. I primed it with Zinc-Chromate using a HVLP gravity fed spray gun. I then sprayed Parkers Duck Boat Paint in the color of Dead Grass with the spray gun. Then I realized I wasn't wild about the the color, so I went to Home Depot. Bought a can of flat black and light tan. I then turned the spray gun pressure down low and the paint volume up, making it shoot splotchy. I topped it off with new boat letters from the MMT store. Basically about 4 days of work. I also stripped my trailer down and spray painted it with a bed liner product. Here was the original 2005 paint. Couple years ago, I did this to the sides. The new paint job. I know its too bright for most of you, but I use a blind that goes down to the waterline. I really use the boat more for fishing than hunting. After 6yrs, I got tired of green and wanted something lighter in color. New letters New 6' coffin box painted and hydroturfed. I also ended up just painting over my gray hydroturf. Maybe it will hold up, if not, not big deal. |

Looks like you pimped the trailer with some wheels too. Nice job. ![]() |
