The go devil is in the shop and in the mean time I have been busy. Removed the runners off the bottom and prepped the whole boat for paint. Got the base coat on today. Just waiting on the stencils to come in and I still need to order the gator glide for the bottom. Here are some before and after photos. go devil.JPG photo 1.JPG photo 2.JPG |

Update!!!! Well progress has been kinda slow. Not being able to weld I had to wait on others to help get the job done but she is almost there. I have collected a series of pictures as best as I could from start to finish. In the first pic you can see that the boat had side ribs and you had to walk over the ribs on the bottom. We removed the side ribs originally to just help make putting the double bottom in easier. This is what took the longest to do. But in the end it came out looking great! |

Next step was adding a removable grab bar and running pipe the length of the boat to run my electrical and fuel lines through. You can see he did a great job on the console for the grab bar and its much nicer than what I had in mind doing. |

Next was repainting. I know some guys previously asked about what types of paint and primer I had used and I still don't have an exact answer for you. I looked on the gallons jugs and it didn't really have much info on it or a particular brand name. All I can tell you is I got it from Vida Paint in Morgan City and I imagine any other Vida Paint would carry the same product. Its a self etching primer and the color of the paint is called dead grass green. You can see in previous pictures where we messed up the original paint job with grinding and the paint had blistered off during welding as well. I also coat the bottom of the boat in Gatorglide G2 in the graphite color. A half gallon did 4 coats on the bottom of my boat and about 2.5 inches up the sides tapering to the rake of the boat. I also did four coats on the lower third of the engine. I rolled the paint on this time rather than spraying it through a gun and it came out much nicer and more durable I think. |

And here is the near finished product!!! I ran the running light last night (not pictured). I went with a fixed bow mounted led fixture rather than the shark eyes like initially wanted, most because I did not want to cut huge holes in my hull. All that's really left to do is stencil on the camo and get my new registration stickers and numbers and she will be all done. Overall I am very happy with how it has come out so far and have gotten a lot of satisfaction from doing most of the work or helping with the work done to it myself. |
