Probably the ugliest boat I have ever owned but my first surface drive boat. It is extremely well built and has a completely open deck except for a box for a drivers seat. The motor runs very well and perhaps someone can tell me why ProDrive motors are 36 hp and the others are 35 hp? I have been trying to trade my Harley for a surface drive boat for a couple of years and finally made a deal. I will test drive it tomorrow. I had to redo most of the electrical because all the wire splices were not heat shrink and I operate in salt water. Probably going to upgrade the trailer to aluminum and get rid of the POS that the boat came on. Wish me luck for my test drive tomorrow. |

Right on man, now post some gps numbers after you run it and some pictures of the rig on the water. But first just calm down. Lol |

You sound happy and upset about getting that rig all in one sentence. |

Briggs vertical motors in theory put out 1 more hp than the horizontal. More of a direct drive I guess. |

This was taken in the original owners driveway. Flat black oxidizes and seems to hold dirt stains but this is it! So, it is not as shiney as it was a few duck seasons ago. |

Just got back from the bay and it seems that driving a surface drive boat is going to take a little getting used to. MM Brand: ProDrive Horsepower: 36 + engine has been modified Boat Brand: Uncle J Boat Size: 18 x 54 Boat Layout: Open, open, open Speeds | Shallow Water: 25 kts (my buddy is a sailor so his phone gps reads knots) Speeds | Deep Water: 24 kts Total Boat Load With Gear Etc: Two 200+ lb guys, 6 gal fuel and a six pack of beer Conditions Tested In: Calm. High water so shallow water speeds were in 12-18" of water. Comments: What a kick in the ass! There seems to be a learning curve, not used to so much torque on a tiller steer engine. The twist grip throttle isn't as comfortable as riding a Harley and the return spring seem a little strong. I need to set the idle up a little, at idle in gear i'm not going fast enough but if I just crack the throttle, I am going fast enough to make a wake and piss off people in the marina This boat favors a load in the back rather than having a person sit on the front deck. I am very happy with the boat and motor but really have to work on my skills to smooth things out a bit. Seems the best top end operation was at 4,600+/- RPM |

Congrats on the ride! What mods have been done to the motor? Also, I would measure that prop to check for wear; those rpms are high for that speed. |
