modified v vs. flat bow 14'?
looking for a new set up. what is some opinions on the modified v vs. flat bow. im going to get a lowe, either the 1436 or the 1440m. I will be running an 18hp surface drive. what are some pros and cons on which one? I will be running anywhere from open water to shallow rivers. thanks -also would anyone recommend going ahead and getting a 23hp?

The mod v will help in timber to keep the boat from squaring up a tree. If you don't run timber, you will be fine with a flat bow.
Yes. Get the 23.
Also I would get a boat made for a mm if you got a 23

Re: modified v vs. flat bow 14'?
I had a 1448 lowe mod v. I knew in the first 10 minutes I needed a new boat it was a turd. Had to trim nearly all the way down to keep from propoising. With 2 men and gear it would only see 13-14 mph. Motor was too heavy for it. A flat front would have helped. You would need a light SD like copperhead or a MB mini. I had a HD sport on it. On a boat that short the mod v will kill performance because you can't get enough lift or displace the load. 16-18 ft 40-44 wide is ideal for a 23. I am faster with a 1744 than I was with 1448 loaded or light
