As most of you know I stepped up to this from a 15 x 40 Custom Wooden Boat with a GTR23 , Hoyt's cam, Decked heads, Mikuni Carb, and Crossover Muffler.

The 35hp in its current configuration is a beast on the hole shot and load carrying compared to the highly modified 23hp. It idles very nicely and there is snappy acceleration over the whole throttle range. I did not break out the gps to clock speed, but I know I'm haulin' ass in this rig plenty enough. She is still porpoising at full throttle though with just me in the boat. I never got above 3250 RPMS. Top trim attitude still leaves too much prop in the water so will have to experiment with next highest transom angle notch hole. I think that since this is a 16' boat she sits low so thrust angle needs so be adjusted accordingly. I had beads welded on bottom near transom but that did not seem to cure the porpoising altogether, though it helped. I don't plan to run this rig full throttle all the time anyway as she is plenty fast at 3/4 throttle. With new Mikuni and adjusted transom notch setup I should be able to bump the coil limiter at 4300 rpms easily if I need to.

Seems to bog in heavy mud. New Mikuni carb should take care of that. My prop is a speed prop. I have another new Gator tail stock I will install for later comparison.

Going over stumps in my little boat was a thrill every time but with this hull I was up and over with ease.

Initially I installed my GTR23 on this hull and ran it in the bayou until I discovered the crankcase was cracked. That combo would have been fine but with the 35hp there is almost no loss in speed and hole shot with more load.

So you have a stage 2 motor with 4300 coils and plan on running it in the mid 3000's? Sounds like you wasted a ton of money on mods to me (on something a stock motor will do with ease)

I didnt see you walk away from the boat beside you. And furhermore, if the boat beside you was running wot, you weren't running 3800 rpms. I hope you have enough sense to realize that either you were running a lot higher rpms or your tiny tach is way off. (Or was it a 27 hp pd?)

Since you said its a speed prop, if its a 12P prop and you were turning 3850 with average slip it is possible that you were walking that PD rig, as much as I hate to admit it. You were probably running around 32ish at 3850 with average slip numbers. And him with heads and mikuni was probably around 30-31. You haven't put a GPS on it?

I offered to build you a boat, that wouldn't porpoise at half throttle, if you woulda let me burn that pos wood "custom" skiff

The video does not lie. Don't know what y'all's problem is with this. Even if I'm just keeping up I've still got more than twice the weight in occupants.
