Post subject:  Dents in rake
I've got a 99 Xpress and I've put several good sized dents in the rake,, its starting to affect my performance and handling.. is there any way to get them out? there is no way to get back behind them to beat them out, thought about like an auto body dent puller? yall boys have any ideas?

Put it in the ground where the rails are even with the ground level, fill it with good top soil and make a worm bed out of it, then get a new custom, thicker, hull.

Not much, especially if you can't get to it, try filling with fiberglass and see if it'll make it the rest of the year. If it were flat with no V or ribs, you could go over with poly but... the worm beds is sounding good, sorry. :lol:

If you go the Fasco route and you have any decent size dents, get 2 gallons of the filler it's cheaper and is a better leveler then the steel flex.

If you want them out bad enough you'd get to them, take the flotation out or somthing. Other than that ur sol don't think an auto dent puller will work but I guess if you've out the money to spend give it a go... Or maybe some kind of filler

Drill a hole where the dent is put in a small peice of rod like 2 or three inches or longer if needed with a peice of 550 paracord or 750 and pull the dents out. Then either weld or epoxy the hole.

Here's just a thought. I've used it on car fenders before. If there's no crease, use a plunger as a suction puller

the problem with pulling or beating out dents- they usually return with first little hit again.

dents in a rake should not affect performance, while on plane the rake should be out of the water.

there is a crease, and I say rake, but its right at the very bottom of rake.. right before I fully plane out, no problem, give it that last bit of throttle or trim it to the "sweet spot'' it shoots a strand of water bout 2 foot out of the front right of the boat like making a hard turn, and you can feel more torque in motor.. talked to an auto body teacher at local high school, and he thinks that he can work something out to help me.. we will see how it goes.. i'll keep yall updated on what happens

Does that fasco filler hold up pretty good? Does it have to be sealed off? I have a weldcraft with an outboard on it and want to true up the bottom a little bit.

Fasco filler works great if you prep the aluminum and then cover with steelflex
