Hi I am deciding between either a 1638 or a 1838 go devil skiff...I am leaning towards the 1838 I want to get a prodrive because I want reverse, I know there are lots of motor choices and draw backs but thats what I wanna go with In my area of the universe it is not easy for me to test drive the boats before I buy so.... Can a run a 36 PD on a 1638 I think I can on the 1838...what do you think I should expect for performance. If I run a 27 PD on the 1638 how would performance be? 2 or 3 guys and hunting load Thanks for the advice |

I believe those hulls have the cut back transom as i was looking at a 1638 last week. The weight of the pd will make that thing squat bad between that and the narrow width. Those hulls were designed with a lt in mind. My question to you is, are they still making them? I haven't seen them on the website in a few years and i never called to check. I think I should not have called it a skiff....GD calls it a 1638 go devil boat. Here is the link to them http://www.godevil.com/16x38.html says 1638 is rated up to 25hp and 1838 to 30hp I believe so anyone run a 1638 or a 1838 and can provide me some guidence? Thanks |

If your stuck on a GD and the 36 PD go at least the 1844. For a little more than $800 than the cost of the 1838, the 1856 would be what I would consider. I ran the 36 on a 1844 GD hull and when compared to the Phowler 1652 and my current Geaux 1848 the difference in draft wasn't a big issue (maybe 1"-1 1/2") at the most with similiar loads, the benefit was that it turned on a dime and the bottom of the transom didn't dig in as bad. |

Im running a 16x38 GD hull with at 25 GTR strapped to the back. It sits low in the water bc of the weight but it moves really good with 2 ppl. I would go with a 18x44 if you want to put a 36PD on it since the PD is a little heavier than a GT |
