I am in the market for a complete rig, and have decided to look at all makes and models prior to purchasing. I want a boat with steering, it will be used mostly for fishing in the marshes of S. Louisiana, occasionally hunting in the same areas. Anybody here own one of the Bayou series boats?

What type of motor do you have? And set up center counsel? trolling motor? where did you locate your gas tank? Are you happy with the performance of the boat? Did you purchase the packaged trailer?

I have a 36 MB Sport V with heads and exhaust on it. I do not have the console but it is the Bayou 18V. I did put on a Minnkota PD55 which seems to push it fine. I do keep the gas tank in the back of the boat like in the factory pictures. The boat preforms very well takes corners without sliding, gets on plain quickly, goes through mud and sand with little effort the smooth bottom is nice. There are a lot of little design things I do like about the boat, a lot of storage, wide gunnel rail, open concept, 2 battery boxes, ect. Now with a couple of issues, my storage boxes did leak I silicone the latched and any possible holes and that seemed to work. I don't like the carpet in the boxes I wish you could remove it if it gets wet, it is a pain to dry. They could on the 18V model put handles on the front of the boat. I did purchase some and put them on myself. I did purchase the factory trailer which is a really nice heavy duty trailer. With this being a production boat for the money it is well built. The design of the boat fit my family fishing hunting needs.

Thanks, I appreciate you giving your thoughts. I was thinking the same thing when I saw the carpet. I am contemplating the square nose with a center counsel.

I had the same question and went with the V nose as it rides better in rough water and it also fit my blind better. I am not running in a lot of mud all the time so there was no need for the square front.
