 Gator Trax 1750 ?
I'm thinking about a 1750 gator trax, I've got a 1644 w/ huntdeck and mudbuddy 35 w mikuni and duals. I river hunt and am wanting little wider for stability w/ three man load, am wondering what the performance difference will be with 1750 or wider gator trax? Thanks for any advice

You want the 1750 with or without the hunt deck?

 Re: Gator Trax 1750 ?
I would think the wider boat with a load will perform better. Running light the smaller boat will likely take the prize. I run about the same loaded or empty with a 1650 hunt deck. I started with the 45 & was pleased. Gator Trax measures length from the front to the false transom. Most others are from front to back of the hd. Just food for thought.

Gator trax are pretty heavy to begin with, and the combined boat length weight and length is what determines how well boat will carry load, remember a 17 with huntdeck is 18 8 i wanna say

 Re: Gator Trax 1750 ?
If you are getting a new boat with a hd, put the fuel tank in the hd & don't put a bunch of boxes in it. The added weight of material should be more than offset by the greater displacement when running with a load.

 Re: Gator Trax 1750 ?
I have owned both 1644 hunt deck and 1650 hunt deck Gatortrax boats (also have owned 1854 with no hunt deck). I think the 50" width is the perfect GT boat and you also have the benefit of 3" higher sides. As for speed, you are talking about 1-2 mph slower moving from 44" to 50" width GT when unloaded. As you load the boat, the extra hull area on the water will actually help you.

 Re: Gator Trax 1750 ?
Thank you for the advice that's what I was waondering. Do you feel that the 50 that you had was much more stable than the 44 ? Trying to decide if its worth what its gonna cost me to upgrade. Thanks

 Re: Gator Trax 1750 ?
I can tell you that the 18x54 is too big for running trenauses. If I had to do it again, I'd do 17x50 or 17x44. Probably 44 for me because when our water gets low, the trenauses get narrow, regardless of load carrying differences.

 Re: Gator Trax 1750 ?
I have a 1650 HD. It's 17'8". It is stable with a load and carries it well. All I hunt are dam controlled rivers. The boat handles the currents and still lets us get into the skinny water off the creeks.
Mine likes all the weight in the back. If you get a new one, take migrator's suggestion on the built in gas tank.

 Re: Gator Trax 1750 ?
OK thanks I've always tried to run most weight up front my fuel tank is up front under deck but I have to open door an slide it out to fill. Thanks for your info about what you guys have. Now I need to try to find best place to trade and get a decent price for mine, I'm in south central Indiana and doubt I can sell bare hull very easy around here.
