In a full welded floor are you boat builders putting drains in the floor up against the cross brace? I've seen gt boats and they don't have any in them. I'm thinkin about putting one on each side on the down hill side of the floor. Any need in them? Or just let them overflow when they get full?

That'd be a lot of water sitting in there potentially, wouldn't it. Up here that'd freeze and have some nice little skating rinks.

I guess that's one of the benefits of gutters.

I have often wondered why you wouldn't use 1x2 on side braces and drop it down in the longitudal braces so the floor is flush.
More work I know but would be nice to have a flat floor.

Their are better options for recessed cross braces

If you ever run salt marsh I wouldn't do any sort of drains...that salt buildup is hell on alum over time

Just my opinion but No, those drains just let the salt water access a lot of hard to get to areas, nooks and crannys under the false floor...sure you can flush it out but your not going to get it all. With a fully welded sealed false floor it eliminates the possibility. We run all aluminum boats with work and over time have problems with areas similar to this..

I would venture to guess not many have a truest sealed double bottom

Water can't get under the front or the back? It's sealed around the runners and to the bottom?

Seems like your longitudinals would have to be capped then completely welded along the farthest cross brace in the back to the bottom, the front bulkhead err thang gotta be welded and sealed

What about inside the front hatch? It's sealed to the floor? I don't know of many that are
